Healthy snacking is important – how and why?

A snack is a small service of food generally eaten between meals. Like you had breakfast around 9 in the morning and you start to feel hungry again around 12 so you eat a small amount of happy food to get rid of those hunger pangs. Snacks could be packaged or processed food items or they could be made from home ingredients as well. Like you can have nuggets from McDonald’s or you could go for a Caesar salad as well. It depends, based on your priorities, like what kind of a foodie or a fitness freak you are. Lol but either way snacking is important and it is inevitable no matter which one of a person you are from the either two.
Today we’re gonna discuss about the importance of eating healthy snacks in a routine. Healthy eating is very important in your daily life. It goes a long way and you eventually start to see the results for yourself. Eating healthy food not only prevent a lot of diseases from happening but also gives you the best defense to live a long and healthy life.

 

#1 Apples slices with almond butter:
They say “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” they are right. Apples are extremely healthy fruits with numerous health benefits. They are rich in iron which is a very important mineral for the body. It is also rich in vitamins that which ensures healthy nerve functionality and also helps your body makes new cells. Vitamins also help lowering the risk of heart diseases because it breakdown fatty and amino acids.
It’s just a perfect match, apple slices with almond butter is a combination of complex carbs, proteins and healthy fat. Not only boosts up your energy levels but also rich in dietary fibers that help in the prevention of the absorption of LDL cholesterol in the gut. Almonds on the other hand are rich sources of proteins and vitamins that keep your fat content in the body – low and also prevent the risk of cancer and various heart diseases.

#3 Cottage cheese with flax seeds and cinnamon:
For all the cheese lovers out there, this snack is for you. Yummy as well as healthy. Cottage cheese is known to be rich in proteins and provides you with the necessary energy levels of the day. It does not need to be cooked and can be consumed directly. It is also the best source of calcium for the body and fulfills 8% of daily recommended value of calcium for you.

Calcium strengthens bones, teeth and hair. Heart muscles work properly and smoothly due to adequate level of calcium in the blood. It also maintains blood sugar levels since it contains magnesium which keeps your heart rate smooth and your immunity high. Potassium is also present in cottage cheese that maintains the fluid balance of the body. It contains Folate which is a B-complex essential for pregnant women. It helps in the normal and healthy fetal development. Folate also plays a crucial role in the production of red blood cells.

Your digestive system works well as cottage cheese contains a decent amount of phosphorus that aids in the breakdown and healthy digestion of food components. Pairing cottage cheese with flax seeds and cinnamon is extremely healthy and fruitful Flax seeds are enormously healthy since they lower the risk of cancer, heart diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes. Pairing dark chocolate with almonds doubles the benefits and gives you a mellow sweet and bitter taste along with the subtle crisp of almonds. As we have already discussed the healthy benefits of almonds, they both make a great snack, low on calories, tasty and help in reducing weight and maintain the normal blood flow and preventing various heart diseases. Both dark chocolate and almonds are also high in magnesium which provides strength and is beneficial for blood, hair growth and healthy looking skin at the same time.

#5 Fruits and vegetables:
Lastly winding it all up on the very basic level; try incorporating more fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Apart from that drink lots of water and take small meals by keeping a check on the calories that you consume on a daily basis. Cutting a few apples and bananas, mixing them with a few strawberries and kiwis would be exceptionally delicious and healthy. Add a little Greek yogurt if you want to have that subtle juicy touch in your salad.
Carrots and cabbage also make a very healthy snack, cut a few cucumbers maybe? Add salt and pepper and gulp it all. It’s very nutritious and helps a lot in the weight loss. Also adds up to the water content of the body thus maintain the fluid balance in the body.

Conclusion: Snacking is important but we need to feed ourselves with as much healthy food items as we can since it’s our temple and we have to live in it. Incorporate more healthy fruits and vegetables in your diet and avoid fatty meals as much as possible.
