Mr. Bezos was born on January 12, 1964; currently 54 years old have been raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Princeton University 1986, with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science. He has also worked on Wall Street in a couple of related fields from 1986 to early 1994, founded Amazon in 1994 on a cross country road trip from New York City to Seattle. Amazon is the world famous multinational technology company focusing on e-commerce, cloud computing and artificial intelligence in the DC. It is one of the BIG FOUR or “Four Horsemen” of technology along with Google, Apple and Facebook.
Amazon is the most valuable public company in the world that is even ahead of Apple and Alphabet. It is the largest e-commerce marketplace cloud computing platform in the world as measured by revenue and market capitalization. It was founded on July 5, 1994 initially as an online bookstore but later diversified as video; Mp3 audio book downloads/streaming website and successfully selling furniture, software’s, electronics, videogames, apparel and jeweler.
This company also owns a publishing arm, Amazon Publishing, a film and television studio, Amazon Studios; it also has separate retail websites for some countries and also offers international shipping of some of its products to other countries.
Amazon is the largest internet company by revenue in the world and is the second largest private employer in the United States of America. Amazon outshines Wal-Mart in 2015 as the most valuable retailer in the United States by market capitalization. In the year 2017, Amazon acquired Whole Foods Market for huge 13.4 billion dollars that monumentally increased Amazon’s presence as a brick and mortar retailer.
According to Forbes, the owner of Amazon, Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world with the net worth of 137 billion dollars, wow man! Jeff is 54 years old and not only Amazon but he also owns several companies including the Washington post and Blue Origin which is a space travel company.
Now talking about Ms. Bezos; she is a 48 years old American novelist who also founded the anti-bullying organization by the name of “bystander revolution” back in 2014. She has written two books so far, one book was published in 2015 by the name of “the test of Luther Albright: A novel” a psychological fiction based novel that also won the American book reward later. The second book she wrote was based on a journey of four women based in Las Vegas, the title of the book was “Traps”
The pair met back in 1993 when the 23 year old Mackenzie interviewed for a job New York hedge fund D.E Shaw as a research associate. Jeff bezos, who was the senior vice president of the company at that time, was on the panel and he offered Mackenzie the job of the research associate, and that’s from where the story begins.
In 2013, in an interview with Vogue, Mackenzie opened up about how she got attracted towards Mr. bezos.
She said: “My office was next door to his, and all day long, I listened to that fabulous laugh.
“How could you not fall in love with that laugh?”
Later, she asked Jeff on a lunch and within three months they got engaged. They both married each other in the same year; 1993. Damn, that’s so cute. But no, what has happened to the all lovey dovey romantic couple now?
Initially the couple lived in one-bedroom rental in downtown Seattle until the year 1999. Then they moved into mansion in suburban lake Washington, reportedly that cost them ten million dollars, ain’t no big deal for Mr. Bezos, no?
“To me, you know, watching your spouse, somebody that you love have an adventure, what is better than that and being part of that? Couldn’t wait to hop in the car,”
she said in an interview promoting her second novel, Traps in the year 2013.
Mackenzie played an important role in Amazon’s early years in a suburban Seattle garage. According to a wired report, the lady negotiated the company’s first freight contracts from a star bucks attached to a Barnes and noble.
Mackenzie also wrote: “I worked for Jeff at DE Shaw, I was there when he wrote the business plan, and I worked with him and many others … in the converted garage, the basement warehouse closet, the barbecue-scented offices, the Christmas-rush distribution centers, and the door-desk filled conference rooms in the early years of Amazon’s history.”
She admitted that wealth plays an important role in success especially in her case; speaking with vogue, she added: “The fact that I got wonderful parents who believed in education and never doubted I could be a writer, the fact that I have a spouse I love; those are the things that define me.”
The couple has four children, one daughter who they adopted from china and three sons. Jeff himself was adopted at the young age by his stepfather Mike bezos, and an Engineer at Exxon.
Now ever since the couple has announced the divorce, so many questions have been raised about their wealth status, Amazon shares and other property remains, which is still a question for all. Under Washington state law unless and until there is some perpetual agreement set between the two parties, the property that’s earned and acquired during a marriage will be equally shared and distributed between the two. Confirmed by their lawyer and legal advisor Carol Bailey.
Although the couple is still spreading the word with positivity by saying that they’ll cherish their relationship forever by staying friends and parenting partners, let’s not forget that they have been living separately for quite a while now and finally decided to get divorced.
Reportedly, Amazon shares, closed on Tuesday at $1,656, dropped early on news of the divorce but rebounded by noon.
This divorce would be a blessing in disguise sort of a scenario for Mackenzie, since its making her the richest woman in the world. Now Forbes would probably be rating her after Mr. Bezos on the list of richest people in the world. Lol.
That’s it for now.
