A hearty welcome to the Sussex Royals on Instagram!
As Kate Middleton and Prince William have had their own Kensington Royal official Instagram account, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have now started their own Instagram journey as well. This comes shortly after the two households were announced to have split as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved out of Kensington into their new home in Windsor’s Frogmore Cottage ahead of their first child’s birth (due any time now, by the way).
The Sussex Royals’ Instagram account shared its first post. It contains a slideshow of ten images that capture the essence of the couple’s journey as royals. Following the first image which is a titled welcome message, the following pictures depict the couple shaking hands with British children in a walk about greet, the couple celebrating a boating victory, fans holding signs of admiration, Prince Harry clad in uniform shaking hands with a fellow military man, Meghan intimately embracing two women, a shot capturing their passion for wildlife conservation, and more. The last shot is a black and white capture that shows the backs of Meghan and Harry as they wave at a crowd hand in hand, a beautiful shot that captures the couple’s strength in their royal journey.
The caption of this post was a personal welcome message from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex themselves.
“Welcome to our official Instagram. We look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.” – Harry & Meghan
The Kensington Royal account which was previously responsible for posting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s official digital content in addition to the Cambridges’ has posted a welcome message aimed at the new Sussex Royal account as well, reading “Welcome to Instagram, @SussexRoyal!”
This isn’t the first new social media account we’ve seen from the Royals lately. Recall that Her Majesty, the Queen, made her Instagram debut just a month ago as well. All these royal digital communication platforms come after Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and Kensington Palace published guidelines regarding how royals interactions should be conducted through their official channels.
With the new account in place and with a previously digitally active Meghan Markle’s private social media accounts long time disabled, we look forward to the creative, aesthetic, and passionate posts that are to come from the royal household!
