Just two days ago, on Sunday, the 9th of June, Justin Bieber came out on twitter to challenge renowned actor and Hollywood superstar, Tom Cruise, to a fight inside the UFC’s octagon ring. The singer openly called out Tom Cruise to this fight, tweeting:

I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom if you don’t take this fight your scared and you will never live it down. Who is willing to put on the fight? @danawhite ?”

On a side note, in case you didn’t know, Dana White heads the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

So now that the tweet is out, there are a lot of questions in the air as to why Justin Bieber called out Tom Cruise out of the blue, challenging him into a UFC battle. Why did he take to twitter to propose something so … out of the blue? Why did he take to twitter to call out Tom Cruise in particular? Is there some history between the two? Some rivalry of sorts? Some recent argument? The answer to most of the questions is no. There is no recent feud or anything that we can find that would warrant the sudden calling out of Tom Cruise by Justin Bieber to a UFC match. Maybe, Justin Bieber’s just bored. But, whatever it is, we know that the internet is loving this and many other stars and celebrities are weighing on the potential fight with their comments adding fuel to the fire.

Let’s get to the big shot responses first. Champion fighter, Connor McGregor quickly came atop the news by speaking above the Bieber tweet, offering his own company’s services and indirectly teasing Tom Cruise on to accept the fight. The UFC champion said:

If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout. Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!”

Pardon My Take’s very own comedy-sports podcaster, Jake Marsh, quickly jumped upon the bandwagon and gave a thorough breakdown of the two opponents on twitter as well. He tweeted the following, citing age, height, reach, and net worth differences.

We wonder whether the news has in fact reached Tom Cruise as there has been no response from him or any of his spokes people regarding the open online challenge. At some point, though, Tom Cruise may have to respond in some manner to the proposed fight.

Other social media users have also had their fair share of fun in this, with one user tweeting that Tom Cruise may “mess Bieber up” but another user promptly responding that his 16 year old daughter may “mess Justin Bieber up!”

Even the amateur MMA fighter Tony Posnanki weighed in on the matter (get the pun? Yes, we’re genius and we know you’re laughing. haha!), saying:

Tom Cruise was an all state wrestler in high school and has been training for over thirty years…
You can’t eat a burrito correctly…
Sit down Biebs.”

Hundreds of funny, mocking, informative, and plain meme tweets and posts ensued this online declared challenge but this was the recap of some of the most popular ones. Stay alert to find out whether Tom Cruise accepts this to turn into an actual Pay Per View Match or how he turns it down if he chooses to turn the other cheek.
