Donald Trump is someone we’ve seen tweeting since well before his acceptance of Presidency. Even beyond becoming the President, he is someone who did not give up on using Twitter to voice himself and continued posting relentlessly on matters on end. In all this time, however, Donald Trump has never been one to “LIKE” someone else’s post. He’s always shared his own posts or responded to others’ tweets, rarely ever liking someone else’s tweet. However, out of the blue, a rare occurrence has just occurred. Trump stopped his tweeting spree to like a quote about the singer Rihanna! This begs many questions.

Donald Trump is a controversial man. Among many things else, he is surely a man well immersed in the tactics and technological emergence of the modern day, his choice mode of communication being Twitter. While many argue that this mode of communication is unprofessional, non serious, or non credible, the President of the United States still chooses this as his authentic channel of voicing opinions, actions, promises, intents, and general thought processes on contemporary matters.

Getting back to the pressing matter at hand, the President of the United States took a pause in broadcasting his Twitter diary to like a tweet by writer and pod-caster Heben Nigatu in which he was sharing a quote by world famous singer and now fashion designer Rihanna from an interview she shared with Interview Magazine on the 10th of June. Mind you, Donald Trump has only liked eight tweets since the existence of his twitter account, with his last like being a year and a half ago. We wonder whether Donald Trump intentionally liked this post, accidentally pressed the button, or whoever is powering his Twitter account (if there is someone that is) accidentally pressed it thinking they were on their own personal account.

So, which quote was this that caught the President’s eye?! It was an excerpt from Rihanna’s June 10th interview where she spoke of her personal life, revealing how important it’s become to set time aside for things that matter to her personally and her now very serious looking and very much in love boyfriend.

It’s only the last couple years that I started to realize that you need to make time for yourself, because your mental health depends on it. If you’re not happy, you’re not going to be happy even doing things that you love doing. It’d feel like a chore. I never want work to feel like a chore. My career is my purpose, and it should never feel like anything other than a happy place. I’ve made little things a big deal, like going for a walk or going to the grocery store. I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me. It was like, ‘I need to make time for this. Just like I nurture my businesses, I need to nurture this as well,” she continued. “I’ll shut things down for two days, three days at a time. On my calendar we now have the infamous ‘P,’ which means personal days. This is a new thing.”

So when Heben Nigatu got a notification that the President had liked her tweet, she was alarmed (as we all are) and instantly tweeted on Wednesday asking what is happening.
