Talk about teasing minors! Echosmith’s 20 year old drummer Graham Sierota is now publicly apologizing after Travis Barker’s 13 year old daughter spoke out against him about his inappropriate DMs and advances towards her.
This isn’t something that took root at this very instant. It’s been going on over the last few years, over the course of which Graham Sierota messaged Alabama Luella Barker numerous times on Instagram. Through the snaps of conversation that Luella revealed, the initial messages appeared to be introductory ones. He wrote:
By the way I’m Graham from Echosmith and I think ur beautiful.”
A few years passed following the introductions where Graham did not reach back out to Luella, but recently, however, he messaged the little girl again, inviting her to a party this time. As the conversation progressed, Alabama responded at one point:
Ur like 40.”
To which, he said:
I just wanted to say i really like ur music and sorry messaging and I’m 20.”
The conversation went on and smart little Alabama Luella Barker asked blatantly:
Ok but u understand I’m a child?”
While Alabama did not end up attending the BBQ to which Graham invited her, she did take to social media to remind her followers that minor harassment is a real thing and that adults should refrain from making advances towards minors always.
She posted a series of screenshots of their conversation on her Instagram story and commented on the posts:
So once again I am bringing this to your attention because I’m a 13 year old girl and he is 21/20 super creepy.”
With it being shared publicly, it obviously came to Travis Barker’s attention as well and he commented that he was utterly “disgusted” and that “that’s predatory behavior and there is nothing cool, normal or OK about it at all.”
After facing such public humiliation, Graham Sierota change the privacy settings on his Instagram account, making it private and then issued a statement of apology to the public and to Alabama for his ill perceived actions. The star’s representative read announced the statement:
I had invited Alabama to my parents’ big family BBQ along with many other people, and it wasn’t until she responded that I realized her age at which point I apologized to her. I’m really sorry and feel very badly about this. I didn’t realize she was a minor and assumed she was my age. I made a careless mistake, and this is a big lesson for me. I would like to apologize again to Alabama, her dad Travis, and her family.”
