Central Intelligence actor, Kevin Hart, was rushed to the hospital with “major back injuries” due to a car crash in Malibu, Los Angeles.

Hart was travelling in his vintage Plymouth Barracuda, with his friend, Jared Black, and his fiancé, Rebecca Broxterman, when it veered 10 feet off the road and crashed into a ditch. Black was driving the 1970 vehicle with Hart in the passenger seat. Both of them were left with “major back injuries”, while Boxterman remained unharmed.

According to the police reports, Black and Boxterman were stuck in the rolled over vehicle as Hart rushed to the nearby residence to seek help. Black was also not under the influence, as determined by the reports.

As per the California Highway Patrol, the driver lost control of the car and it crashed though wooden fencing, a little before 1 a.m. on Mulholland Highway, Malibu. Photos obtained by TMZ showed the roof of the blue car completely crushed and torn off, while the rest of the automobile looked like a ‘mangled mess’.

Hart was transferred to Northridge Hospital Medical Centre where he underwent surgery to treat the injuries. The comedian is now in recovery and will stay in the hospital for a few more days for supervision.

The 40-year-old actor bought his car on his 40th birthday – as a way to treat himself. He posted a picture, standing in front of the car, on Instagram saying, “I added some more muscle to the family for my 40th….welcome home “Menace” #MuscleCarLover”.

Actors have been sending the comedian well wishes following the accident. Dwayne Johnson posted a shot of the two filming Jumanji, sending his prayers for Hart’s quick recovery. He wrote, “Stop messing with my emotions brother @kevinhart4real. We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man. Stay strong”. Another actress, Yvette Nicole Brown, also tweeted “I am praying for my friend @KevinHart4real. Please join me”
