Nicki Minaj is someone who we’ve seen go through some toxic relationships in the past that have been both unhealthy for her and have also hurt her in the process. She is now with Kenneth Petty with whom she feels  unconditionally loved and in a positive state of mind.

This is a change for the superstar but it also humbles her and inspires her to remind her fans that it isn’t always rainbows and sunshine for everyone. That said, it is important to be there for someone for whom it happens to be that way: yo be a listening ear, to be a source of support and motivation, to be a source of guidance and positivity to help them overcome the struggles dragging them down, and, most importantly, to know when to help them come out of such a toxic relationship if it doesn’t seem to be what’s good for them at all.

To share this message with her fans, Nicki Minaj decided to open up about her past relationships candidly to show them that she’s been on the same boat and she knows how it feels. Empathy goes a long way and for those out there struggling in such toxic situations on their own (as well as for those around them who don’t know how to help), Nicki Minaj’s words are a light of guidance to help them along.

Nicki Minaj began a series of tweets on Sunday in which she shared her thoughts on the matter. She explained:

When u see a woman in a toxic relationship, rather than laugh & say mean things, try to offer sound advice from your heart & root for her to learn her worth. We’ve all been there. I saw my parents fight & argue non stop & never divorce, so I thought this was normal behavior…”

She further went on to explain the common misconception that love is supposed to feel this way, that when you love someone so intensely you hurt so intensely too and that that’s mean to be expected and dealt with. This is a common misconception that many young girls have especially where they undervalue themselves and let themselves get hurt because it’s supposedly meant to be that way. Nicki Minaj used to think so too but she’s now learned otherwise and that’s why she’s speaking up to explain that that is not how it’s meant to be. Once self worth should be put first. In her well out words:

I rlly used to think love had to hurt. So I could never look down on anyone else. We are merely human. It’s not easy to leave. Especially in the world of IG where all ppl want to do is post relationship goal pics for clout & attention. A man should make you feel safe, not afraid.”

All of these messages come at a time when Nicki Minaj is in a very healthy and satisfied state of mind with her relationship. She has been dating her love Kenneth Petty for a long time now and some suspect that she even secretly married him just a few weeks ago. While the star hasn’t officially confirmed the marriage news her messages do show that she’s clearly in a happy place with her relationship to be so well at terms with and open about her past confidently.
