Ninya, from Des Moines, Iowa, is a budding author who has been passionate about writing all her life, however, only perused it after she turned 40. During her 20’s, she started a writing group with a friend and her sister, which, unfortunately didn’t pan out. Fast forward to 40, after a failed marriage and a hopeless career as a photographer, she turned towards her true self.

According to Ninya, “After nearly 40 years of denying who I am and what I was put here to do, I have finally claimed my place in the world. I am a writer. It’s the most natural expression of who I am.”

Velvet Guild is a serial novel about BDSM and erotic romance. It mainly revolves around Aimee, a single mother who has always experimented in the adventurous and kinky side of the bedroom. Driven by financial needs, she creates an online forum – Velvet Guild – for teaching BDSM practices to different couples.

“Aimee is panicking, feeling like a middle-aged failure, barely scraping by, raising a teenager alone. She is also a submissive who yearns to be dominated in the bedroom.

As she scans the help wanted ads, she overhears a table of sexually frustrated housewives complaining about their perfect lives.

Could she introduce these women to the BDSM lifestyle through a house party format? Instead of game night, it could be blindfolds and bite marks.

After all, sex sells, and they have the money to pay”.

BDSM refers to a variety of erotic activities, involving bondage, discipline, dominance and submission. Abbreviating for ‘Bondage, Domination/Submission, Sadism and Masochism’, it is a broad category of bedroom play that can range from ‘mild to wild’ – depending on the couple’s kinks/fetishes.

According to the cover page of the novel, “Friends don’t let friends stay vanilla”. Vanilla generally refers to sexual intercourse in the most simplistic manner – even the most beginner’s level kink toys: furry handcuffs/ silky blindfolds.

Velvet Guild will be released in the form of episodes, one on the first of every month. Each publication will approximately be 60 pages/ 12,000 words and can be easily read in an hour!

Ninya is also working on another serial – “Wynning” – a fictional story about a middle aged woman, struggling with a mid-life crisis, who indulges in some interesting (read: crazy) relationships.
