KFC Proposal goes viral as multi-national companies offer to sponsor the event

Bhut’ Hector of South Africa, decided to propose to the love of his life in a unique way. The video of Hector proposing in KFC went viral and now has over 3 million views, along with sponsorship from companies like Coca Cola and Puma.

Proposing to your significant other can be a stressful task – deciding the perfect venue, the time and what not. However, a man from South Africa decided to leave the hassle and popped the question in KFC instead.

A video of the proposal was posted on Twitter and immediately went viral.

KFC responded to the video by urging the public to help identify the cute couple. KFC South Africa tweeted, “Mzansi please help us find this beautiful couple, DM us any leads, there might be a Finger Lickin’ Good surprise in it for you too”.  Soon after, the couple was identified as Hector and Nonhlanhla.

 

Internet flooded with tweets gushing over the cute proposal. @dimpho_manox wrote, “The beautiful moments don’t have to cost much! This is so beautiful”, while another user tweeted, “Oh my brought tears to my eyes, they look so in love!!” and “Never judge anyone’s standard of living. This must be a dream come true, beginning of happy life”.

Kateka Malobola, who posted the original video, said that the responses to the video have been overwhelming. “It’s not even about the video, it’s about love,” he said. “The man … I’m not as brave as he is. He went down on one knee in front of everybody at KFC. Everybody came running from outside that heard the screams from the cashiers and the patrons … it’s genuine love.”

 

While there were some who found the proposal adorable, there were a few bitter souls who thought Nonhlanhla deserved better. A user wrote, “SA men are so broke they even propose at KFC.. they have absolutely no class, I mean who proposes at KFC”.

Classy or not, the proposal did manage to catch some attention from multinational companies. Coca Cola, Puma and Sony Movies, along with many others, wanted to be a part of the wedding.

Coca-Cola wrote, “Just like your chicken and our Coke are the perfect pair, and we’re all for bringing people together. The soft drinks for the wedding are on us! We’ll keep an eye on our inbox for all the deats”.

 

Sony movies offered two 3D movie tickets, popcorn and soda, and Eyewitness News pledged to live stream the wedding so all South Africans can be a part of it. Furthermore, PUMA South Africa wrote, “PUMA Boyz keep doing the most. Bhut’ Hector and his lovely bride Nonhlanhla each deserve R10 000 of in-store #PUMA threads. Get us in touch with them”.
