Stephenie Meyer, the author well known for being the mastermind behind the ‘Twilight’ series has finally announced that the much awaited prequel to the series shall be released to the public on 4th of August.

Twilight fans have long awaited for this book to come out and they couldn’t be more excited! Despite critics often lashing on the books and the movies in general, the franchise does have a devoted fandom of it’s own.

The title of the book is ‘The Midnight Sun‘. The author took to her website ( this past Monday.

In the vampire saga, this is a new beginning! Narrated purely from Edward Cullen’s perspective, perhaps this time around Meyer will give Edward the attention his fans have longed for.

Despite Stephenie writing over 4 books and keeping Edward relevant as the plot serves, the fans have mostly been disappointed and thus have always wished to see more of the bloodthirsty heartthrob.

It seems like Meyer has listened for once considering that the upcoming prequel will be narrated purely from Edward’s perspective.

Telling his own personal tale hopefully, which didn’t happen in the earlier books and left the character’s personality being vague.

The author while releasing her statement had a few uplifting yet tragic words to say, “I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of ‘Midnight Sun’ on Aug. 4th,” she said. “It’s a crazy time right now, and I wasn’t sure it was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long, it didn’t seem right to make you wait anymore.”

However, this isn’t a sudden news. A week ago, a mysterious countdown appeared on Meyer’s website causing fans of the beloved series to wonder all sorts of things.

Also, even before that, 12 years ago Stephenie had written down a certain portion of the supposed ‘Midnight Sun’ that’s going to releasing this August. Unfortunately, she couldn’t write further as hackers leaked her manuscript online, causing her to rethink everything.

Fans were devastated and so was the author herself, the franchise presumably ended. Fan girls didn’t stop there though and have been creating fan fiction for years now on platforms such as Wattpad. It was only a matter of time before Mayer delighted fans with the news of the ‘Midnight Sun’.

Meyer said she “thought seriously about delaying” the novel again, given the current coronavirus outbreak, but decided to release it anyway, given just how long fans have waited.

“I know how much I personally need distractions right now, how much I need something to look forward to, and most of all, how much I need more books to read,” Meyer said in a statement. “So, I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, after it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while.”

After years of waiting, all it took was a global pandemic for Stephenie to release a book which has been awaited by fans for more than a decade!

An executive from Little Brown says that readers will get a hindsight of Edward’s character through this book. “Fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts.” Is what he has claimed.

Meyer told USA Today that the book will be “definitely darker” and “more desperate”. These two phrases alone have excited fans more than ever! Many took to Twitter to express their reactions!

As far as the two highlights of the franchise, the Hollywood actors are concerned they’re not particularly sure if they’ll reprise their role since the franchise doesn’t hold a high place in their regards.

Kristen Stewart has sarcastically taunted the franchise but has even said that she’ll be up for it if given the chance in an Entertainment Weekly interview.

Robert Pattinson, the upcoming Dark Knight has a lot on his plate already, he’s been busy with the role of Batman however he once enthusiastically responded to Yahoo a few years, when questioned on reprising his role.

Really, they’re expanding it? So I’ll get my own spin-off?” he told the outlet. “Anything where there’s a mass audience — or seemingly an audience for it — I always like the idea of subverting people’s expectations. There could be some radical way of doing it, which could be quite fun. It’s always difficult when there’s no source material.”

Well, Taylor Launter is the one getting a sort of spin off here if the movie ever gets made that is.

We eagerly wait for the release of the long awaited ‘Midnight Sun’. Be sure to look out for it, it shall be out August 4.
