Kristen Stewart known for her infamous role in Twilight among many other classics shall surprisingly star as the late Princess Diana!
There’s still a lot of news underway but admirers of the royal family can expect a story on Diana’s unfortunate marriage.
The titular movie ‘Spencer’ refers to the princess’s surname before marriage. Sources say that we can expect the storyline to be set in the early 90s and a glimpse of royal politics through Diana’s perspective.
The movie’s going to be directed by Pablo Larrain and scripted by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, Hollywood news sites say.
Acclaimed director Larrain who’s the mastermind being academy award nominated movies, “No” and “Jackie” had a few words to say on why he chose Stewart to portray Diana.
“Kristen is one of the great actors around today,” Larrain said. “To do this well, you need something very important in film, which is mystery…”
The director kept praising the Twilight star and specifically appreciated her noir styled, mysterious persona. Kristen herself loved the script and both mutually had an optimistic outlook on the movie.
Twilight was Stewart’s big break, that’s the movie she’s most known for, but does she appreciate her work?
In numerous interviews, the 30-year-old has said that the franchise was huge emotional toll on her, the limelight she had was a constant trigger for her anxiety. The actress has come a long way since and hopefully she’ll be remembered for the ages now.
“We decided to get into a story about identity, and around how a woman decides somehow, not to be the queen,” Larrain told Deadline .
“She’s a woman who, in the journey of the movie, decides and realises that she wants to be the woman she was before she met Charles.”
Both Stewart and Larrain are excited to see Diana’s journey throughout her marriage and it’s most likely thst production for the movie will start in 2021.
Diana’s life was a mystery indeed and now, as the conspiracy theories of her death get more “shocking” by the day, so does the need for a biopic with critical acclaim similar to Netlifx’s The Crown.
All in all, the biopic looks promising despite the fact that some fans are critical of Kristen’s selection but nonetheless, 2021 or 2022 is surely going to be remembered for the Princess of Wales’s story!
In a pandemic and recession driven world, critics and fans alike have high expectations from this one! Robbie Collin, a Telegraph critic, in a tweet expressed his excitement in a way that isn’t considered ethical in terms of criticism but one can’t hold his emotions when Diana’s being discussed, can he?
